Henrico Outreach and Engagement Agency will next month host community members who have reached their 100th birthday to be honored at the second annual Centenarian Celebration on Monday, Sept. 22 at the Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Rd.
The free two-hour program will begin at 3 p.m. and the event will highlight the lives of honorees by recognizing their contributions in the community.
Virginia Center on Aging and other groups dedicated to enhancing social engagement, wellness and independence for older adults will also participate in the event.
“100 years is an incredible milestone that only some people reach. Our work shows us how much we can learn from older adults, and there are centenarians right here in our community who are able to share their first-hand experiences of the past 100 year,.” Said Advocate for the Aging Ashlee Giles.
Those interested in celebrating a friend or family member aged 100 or older are required to register them through phone or email by contacting the Henrico Advocate for the Aging’s Office at 804-501-5065 or agingadvocate@henrico.gov. Registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 1.
