Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund Information Fair Planned

By: Maria-Paula

Qualifying and interested homebuyers and home builders in Henrico County are invited to the ground-breaking of the affordable housing initiative event set for Thursday, June 12.

Information and questions related to “Keys to Homeownership: Learning about housing resources and the Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund” is scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, 1 All Star Boulevard. The information fair, which is free and open to the public, will be held as an open house where attendees are welcome to arrive at any time during the event.

Staff from the county’s non-profit partners including Partnership for Housing Affordability, Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) of Virginia, the Maggie Walker Community Land Trust, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Virginia and Virginia Housing will engage prospective buyers in discussions involving home ownership programs.

Involved program’s home builder partners like Mungo Homes, HHHunt Homes, StyleCraft Homes, Ryan Homes and Center Creek Homes will share information with attendees on homes that are either available now or will soon be available through the Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

The Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund is designed to help first-time homebuyers with an annual income falling below a certain level. Revitalization Specialist Emily Hurley of the county’s Department of Community Revitalization said the plan will help the targeted clients purchase homes in Henrico at more affordable prices.

“At the Henrico Department of Community Revitalization, we understand that buying your first home has never been more challenging. The Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund seeks to increase the number of affordable homes and help county residents realize the dream of homeownership. We encourage prospective first-time buyers to attend Keys to Homeownership,” said Hurley.

Home builders and developers who want to learn more about the incentives the county can offer for-profit and non-profit builders and developers that create quality and affordable housing in the county are also invited to the information fair.

The $60 million Henrico Affordable Housing Trust Fund, created in May 2024 by the Henrico County Board of Supervisors, helps residents priced out of the local housing market gain access to affordable homeownership. The first batch of  sales of the first homes developed under the program was completed earlier this spring.
